This spicy garlic shrimp noodle is a very savoury dish that you can easily and quickly make any day! I’ve received rave reviews and tons of comments that this tastes and looks like Korean food and I could not agree more!

INGREDIENTS :

  • 1 pound peeled & deveined jumbo shrimp, pat dry
  • 10 to 12 ounces dried pasta
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sake or water
  • 2 tablespoons gochugaru, Korean red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon Maesilaek, Korean green plum extract (you can substitute honey or maple syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 2 to 4 serrano pepper, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • Sesame oil and seeds, optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch salt

DIRECTIONS :

Step 1: Following the package directions, cook the dried pasta in a pot of salted boiling water. For this recipe, you can use spaghetti or fettuccine in place of linguine.

Step 2: In the meantime, combine the shrimp, cornstarch, and salt in a mixing bowl. Set aside.

Step 3: In a mixing bowl, place the soy sauce, fish sauce, sake, maesailaek, gochugaru, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.

Step 4: Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet over high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the shrimp to the skillet and evenly spread. Sear the shrimp for about 1 to 2 minutes on the first side. Flip the shrimp and add butter to the skillet along with the chopped garlic. Stir well until the bubble has melted and bubbles.

Step 5: To the skillet, pour in the sauce mixture and quickly toss the shrimp. Then, add the cooked pasta along with the chopped Serrano and green onions. Stir well and add the pasta water as needed.

Step 6: Remove from the heat when done and serve the Spicy Garlic Shrimp Noodles right away garnished with some sesame seeds and drizzle with sesame oil. Enjoy!
