Valentines is just around the corner. This year we plan to keep it simple. I am planning on cooking my husband’s favourite, pork chops in garlic mushroom sauce and pairing it with a simple side salad with our fave bottle of wine. Throw this amazing dish together in less than thirty minutes using just simple ingredients for a filling weeknight dinner or date night.

INGREDIENTS :

  • 2 lbs. boneless pork chops
  • 1 (8 oz.) package sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 2 c. beef broth
  • ¼ c. butter, divided
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 pinch kosher salt and ground black pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS :

Step 1: Sprinkle all sides of the pork chops with paprika, salt, and pepper.

Step 2: Melt 2 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the pork chops to the skillet and sear for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side until golden brown and no longer pink. Set the pork chops aside when done.

Step 3: In the same skillet, melt the rest of the butter over medium-high heat. Now, add the mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes until golden and the excess moisture has evaporated. Now, add the garlic and mustard. Continue to cook for another minute until the garlic is fragrant.

Step 4: To the skillet, add the flour, whisking until the lumps are gone. Then, gradually add in the beef broth, stirring until combined. To taste, season with salt and pepper.

Step 5: Adjust the heat to medium and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce has thickened.

Step 6: Place the pork chops back into the skillet and continue to cook for a minute more until heated through.

Step 7: When done, serve immediately. Enjoy!
