INGREDIENTS :

For the Dough:

  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large Egg, beaten
  • ⅔ c warm milk
  • 1 ½ tsp fine salt
  • 4 c all-purpose flour, or more as needed
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • ⅔ c warm water

For the Sticky Topping:

  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 c chopped toasted pecans
  • 3 tbsp water
  • A pinch of salt
  • ¼ c white sugar
  • ½ c packed light brown sugar

Sugar Filling:

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¾ c packed light brown sugar

DIRECTIONS :

  1. In a bowl, add milk and water. Stir until well blended.
  2. Add yeast and allow it to rise for 10 minutes.
  3. Add melted butter, egg, and sugar. Stir until well blended.
  4. Add the rest of the flour and salt. Whisk until well blended.
  5. Knead for 5 minutes, then cover the dough with plastic wrap and allow it to rise for an hour.
  6. Prepare the oven and preheat to 190 degrees C or 375 degrees F.
  7. Brush with butter a 9×13-inch metal baking pan.
  8. In a mixing bowl, add water, white sugar, melted butter, salt, and brown sugar. Stir until well blended.
  9. Add the mixture into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  10. Sprinkle the pecans on top of the batter.
  11. In a separate bowl, add the cinnamon and brown sugar. Stir until well blended.
  12. Sprinkle flour onto a flat surface, then place the dough on it. Knead to about an 18×15-inch rectangle.
  13. Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture on top of the dough.
  14. Roll the dough from end to end. Shape it into a cylinder. Slice the dough into 12 even pieces.
  15. Place the buns into the prepared pan and arrange them into 3 rows.
  16. Cover with foil, then place them inside the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour.
  17. Allow them to cool completely at room temperature.
