INGREDIENTS :

  • 1 stick melted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 5 Eggs
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 loaf challah bread, sliced 1-inch thick
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • A pinch of kosher salt
  • Confectioners’ sugar, for serving (optional)

DIRECTIONS :

  1. Prepare the oven and preheat to 190 degrees C or 375 degrees F
  2. Add melted butter, maple syrup, and brown sugar into a mixing bowl. Beat until well blended.
  3. Transfer the mixture into a baking dish and spread it evenly.
  4. Place the bread over the mixture.
  5. In another mixing bowl, add the cream, eggs, vanilla, milk, nutmeg, salt, and cinnamon. Stir until well blended.
  6. Pour the mixture on top of the bread and spread it evenly.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap, then place it inside the fridge for one hour to soak the bread.
  8. Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes or until done.
  9. Remove from the oven and sprinkle sifted sugar on top.
  10. Let the French toast rest for a few minutes at room temperature.
  11. Serve and enjoy!
