INGREDIENTS :
- 1 stick melted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 5 Eggs
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 loaf challah bread, sliced 1-inch thick
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- A pinch of kosher salt
- Confectioners’ sugar, for serving (optional)
DIRECTIONS :
- Prepare the oven and preheat to 190 degrees C or 375 degrees F
- Add melted butter, maple syrup, and brown sugar into a mixing bowl. Beat until well blended.
- Transfer the mixture into a baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Place the bread over the mixture.
- In another mixing bowl, add the cream, eggs, vanilla, milk, nutmeg, salt, and cinnamon. Stir until well blended.
- Pour the mixture on top of the bread and spread it evenly.
- Cover with plastic wrap, then place it inside the fridge for one hour to soak the bread.
- Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes or until done.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle sifted sugar on top.
- Let the French toast rest for a few minutes at room temperature.
- Serve and enjoy!
