Ingredients:
- 1 pound cube steak
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 4 to 6 mushrooms, fresh
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Season-All (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon taco seasoning mix (optional)
- 2 Tablespoons cooking oil
- 1 Tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 package dry onion soup mix
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 cups water or beef broth
- 1/4 cup dry red wine
- salt and pepper, to taste (for beef)
Directions:
Step 1: Place a skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Step 2: Add butter and oil, then allow them to melt and become hot.
Step 3: Slice the mushrooms and onions.
Step 4: Use a meat mallet to pound the steaks. Slice it into four and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 5: In a mixing bowl, add the Panko, seasonings, and flour. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 6: Coat the cube steaks with the flour mixture.
Step 7: Put the coated cube steaks into the hot skillet. Cook each side for about 3 minutes, then move them onto a clean plate.
Step 8: Add the mushrooms and onions into the skillet and saute until translucent.
Step 9: Add two tablespoons of flour and stir until well mixed.
Step 10: Add wine and stir. Make sure to scrape the bottom to get the brown bits.
Step 11: Add the onion soup mix, water, two tablespoons of tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until well mixed.
Step 12: Put the steak cubs back to the skillet and cover it. Reduce the heat to low and cook for about 10 minutes.
