These little wonders will surely put a big smile on your face! Aside from its amazing taste, it is also very easy to make. These heartwarming biscuits are perfect with a nice hot coffee or cocoa. INGREDIENTS :
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 5 tablespoons cold butter
- 1 cup cold buttermilk
- 1 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/3 cup diced green chilies (rinsed well)
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
- Additional shredded cheddar for the top of biscuits
DIRECTIONS :
Step 1: Ready the oven and preheat to 425 degrees.
Step 2: Line parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
Step 3: In a medium mixing bowl, add in the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 4: Cut the cold butter into 4 and toss them into the flour mixture.
Step 5: Use a pastry cutter to mix the mixture. Mix until it looks like coarse crumbs.
Step 6: Pour in the buttermilk and stir until well blended.
Step 7: Add in the green chilies and cheese. Stir until well mixed and sticky.
Step 8: Sprinkle flour on a flat surface and place the dough. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of flour on top of the dough.
Step 9: Knead for at least 5 to 6 times and press to create a 1/2-inch thick circle.
Step 10: Cut the dough using a 2-round biscuit cutter. Arrange the dough onto the lined cookie sheet leaving a 1-inch space on each biscuit.
Step 11: Gather the dough scraps and create more circles then repeat the procedure.
Step 12: Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of shredded cheese over the biscuits.
Step 13: Place inside the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until the color is nicely golden brown.
Step 14: Remove from the oven and let it sit at room temperature for at least 5 minutes.
Step 15: Serve and enjoy!
