CRISPY HONEY ORANGE GLAZED SALMON

Pan-fried salmon tossed in a delicious honey-orange-garlic sauce with a speck of soy and broil to get that beautiful charred crispy edges. For an easy and quick filling meal, serve this crispy honey, orange-glazed salmon over rice, noodles, steamed vegetables, or with a salad, and do not forget to drizzle the tasty sauce on top.

INGREDIENTS :

  • 4 (6 oz.) skinless salmon fillets, (170 g. each)
  • 2 tsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 c. fresh orange juice, (about 1/2 an orange)
  • 1/2 an orange, sliced to serve
  • salt and cracked black pepper, to taste

DIRECTIONS :

Step 1: In a skillet or pan, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the salmon to the skillet/pan, skin-side up and sear for about 3 to 4 minutes. Flip the salmon and sear the other side for another 2 minutes.

Step 2: Into the skillet/pan, pour in the orange juice, and cook for about 1 minute until reduced in half. Next, add the garlic and continue to cook for another 30 seconds until aromatic. To the sides of the pan, move the salmon and add the honey and soy sauce, whisking to mix the flavors.

Step 3: Bring everything to a simmer until the mixture has reduced to a nice syrup. This takes about 30 seconds to a minute. Then, move the salmon around to evenly coat them in the sauce. Take the skillet/pan off the heat once the salmon is cooked to your desired doneness.

Step 4: To taste, season the salmon with salt and pepper. Serve the salmon over rice, noodles, steamed vegetables, or with a salad. And do not forget to drizzle the sauce over. Enjoy!

NOTE:

This step is optional but recommended if you want to get those charred and crispy edges. During the last 2 minutes of cooking, broil or grill the salmon (if using an oven-safe pan/skillet). While the salmon is cooking on the stove, preheat the broiler.
