This is a super amazing copycat recipe of Cinnabon. It’s incredibly good and perfect for breakfast, dessert, even snacks!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/3 c. margarine, melted
- 1 c. warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 2 eggs, room temperature slightly beaten
- 4 1/2 c. bread flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/3 c. butter, softened
- 2 1/2 tsp bread machine yeast (use a regular yeast if you make the dough without a machine)
- 2 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed
Frosting ingredients:
- 1 8-ounces Cream cheese or Neufchatel cream cheese
- 1/2 cup salted butter
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (I love Mexican extract)
- 4 1/2 cups confectioners/Powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
DIRECTIONS :
Step 1: You can make the dough using a bread machine (if available) or a hand mixer. To make the dough, add the yeast to warm/hot milk (with at least 100 degrees F temperature) and mix. Then, add the eggs along with the margarine, salt, sugar, and flour. Mix and knead well.
Step 2: In the meantime, prepare the oven and preheat it to 200 degrees F.
Step 3: Turn the oven off when the dough is ready. Tent the dough using a damp paper towel and place it in the oven to rise for about an hour until double the size.
Step 4: To make the cream cheese frosting, you need to soften the butter and unwrapped-cream cheese first in the microwave. Mix the remaining frosting ingredients except for 1 cup powdered sugar in a small bowl. Then, slowly add in the rest of the powdered sugar while mixing at low speed until smooth.
Step 5: Turn the dough out on the prepared surface when done and tent it with a towel. Allow the dough to rest for about 10 minutes, then roll it out into a 16 x 21 rectangle.
Step 6: On top of the dough, spread the melted butter and evenly sprinkle over the cinnamon-sugar mixture. So the roll stays in place, add it over the sugar mix, leaving 1/4-inch of space outside the long edge.
Step 7: Wrap the dental floss under, cross it, and pull it into 12 equal pieces.
Step 8: Place them in a lightly grease 9 x 13-inch baking pan/glass dish. Tent the roll until double in size. If you want the rolls to stand alone, use a cookie sheet. You do not need to have square edges.
Step 9: Place in a 400 degrees F oven and bake for about 12 to 20 minutes or until brown. Remove from the oven when done and spread the frosting on the rolls while hot so the frosting melts into the roll. Dab the rolls with frosting again once they are cooled.
