These black pepper cheddar bacon biscuits are the best! They are super fluffy, flaky, and buttery with crisp bacon pieces, sharp cheddar, black pepper, plus garlic! For more goodness, do not forget to slather these biscuits with softened butter.
INGREDIENTS :
- 3/4 c. unsalted butter, frozen
- 6 slices bacon, diced
- 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 c. shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 c. chopped fresh parsley leaves
- 2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
DIRECTIONS :
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 450 degrees F. Using parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, line a baking sheet.
Step 2: Add the bacon to the hot large skillet over medium-high heat and cook for about 6 to 8 minutes until the bacon is brown and crispy. When done, drain the excess grease and place the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate.
Step 3: Place the bacon, flour, cheese, parsley, baking powder, pepper, salt, baking soda, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Mix well until combined.
Step 4: Using the large holes of a box grater, grate the butter, then stir this into the flour mixture. Then, add the buttermilk and mix with a rubber spatula until a soft dough forms.
Step 5: Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead about 3 to 4 times until the dough comes together. Roll the dough into about a 1 1/4-inch thick rectangle using a rolling pin.
Step 6: Using a 2-inch biscuit or cookie cutter, cut out about 14 to 16 rounds from the dough.
Step 7: Onto the prepared baking sheet, place the biscuits and pop in the freezer for at least 15 minutes.
Step 8: Take the biscuits from the freezer and bake in the oven for about 14 to 17 minutes or until the biscuits turned golden brown.
Step 9: Remove from the oven when done and serve the biscuits warm. Enjoy!
