I love how I can make my kid’s favourite into a fun and grab-and-go dish. This flavorful patty melt on top of toasted buns is genius! Crazy good, no doubt why my family cannot get over this open-faced meatloaf sandwich with melted cheese on top. Serve this with French fries or chips for a fun, simple, easy, and quick meal excellent for everybody! Try this very soon. I am pretty sure you’ll be making this amazing meatloaf patty melt again and again!
INGREDIENTS :
- 1 lb lean ground beef at least 90% lean
- 4 (6”) sub rolls
- 1 Egg
- 1 ¼ c. saltine crackers
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ small onion minced
- ½ c. milk
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- 4 tbsp ketchup plus more for topping
- tsp salt & pepper, to taste
- 2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
DIRECTIONS :
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 450 degrees F. In half lengthwise, split the rolls and place them on a baking sheet. Set aside.
Step 2: Place the ground beef, crushed crackers, egg, onion, milk, 4 tablespoons ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, garlic powder, and salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Mix well until combined.
Step 3: Top the bun-halves with the meat mixture, making sure to evenly spread them out on the buns. On top of the meat mixture, spread additional ketchup. You can add more or a little amount of ketchup according to your preference.
Step 4: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the meatloaf for approximately 15 to 20 minutes or until the internal temperature of the meat reached 160 degrees. Remove from the oven when done and top with the shredded cheese. Return to the oven and continue baking for another 2 to 3 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
