Yield: serves 4-6

If you love bacon cheeseburger Stromboli, I am pretty sure that you’ll dig this Garbage Bread as well. This is perfect for a weeknight meal, entertaining, and game day. This recipe is very flexible, too!

INGREDIENTS :

  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 lb chopped bacon
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 (13.8 oz.) thin crust pizza dough (I used Pillsbury)
  • 12 oz. Velveeta, cubed
  • 1 1/2 c. grated cheddar jack cheese
  • 1 tbsp steak seasoning (I used McCormick)

Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1/2 c. mayonnaise
  • salt & pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS :

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 425 degrees. Using parchment paper, line a baking sheet and set it aside.

Step 2: Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-low heat until crisp. When done, set the cooked bacon aside, then drain most of the grease from the skillet.

Step 3: Add the onions and ground beef in the same skillet and cook over medium-high heat until the onions are soft and the meat is completely cooked. Drain the excess liquid/grease from the pan.

Step 4: Return the bacon to the pan and season with the steak seasoning. Then, add the Velveeta. Continue to cook over low heat, stirring until the cheese has melted. When done, take off the heat and set it aside.

Step 5: Onto the prepared baking sheet, roll the pizza dough out to about 15 x 10-inch rectangle. On top, evenly spread the meat mixture. Make sure to leave about 1-inch space at the edges. Sprinkle the meat mixture with the grated cheese.

Step 6: Beginning with the long sides, roll the pizza dough, pinching the crust the seal. Then, place on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.

Step 7: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven when done and let the bread cool for about 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.

Sauce:

Step 8: Place the mayonnaise, ketchup, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Mix well until combined.

Step 9: If desired, dip the slices of bread into the sauce. Enjoy!
