Lasagna has always been my go-to since I can remember. I have tried different lasagna recipes, but my favourite is this easy lasagna recipe. It’s a no-fuss with layers of goodness that I can whip up in a cinch!
INGREDIENTS :
- 2 large eggs
- ½ lb sweet Italian sausage
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 15 oz. ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)
- 48 oz. spaghetti sauce (your favourite sauce)
- 3 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 2 tsp dried parsley or 4 tablespoons freshly snipped
- ¼ c. water
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp ground pepper
DIRECTIONS :
Step 1: Cook the ground beef and sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. When done, drain the excess grease. Then, add the minced garlic and spaghetti sauce. Let everything simmer for about 5 minutes.
Step 2: Place the ricotta, 2 cups of mozzarella cheese, eggs, ½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese, dried parsley, salt, and ground black pepper in a large bowl. Mix well until blended.
Step 3: Using cooking spray, grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
Step 4: On the bottom of the prepared baking pan, spread ¾ cup of sauce, then cover with 3 uncooked lasagna noodles. Top the noodles with ⅓ of the cheese mixture followed by ¼ of the sauce. Do the same layers (noodles, cheese, sauce, noodles, cheese, sauce). On top, add another 3 noodles, the rest of the sauce, 1 cup mozzarella, then Parmesan cheese.
Step 5: You can add half a cup of water to the edges of the pan if the sauce turned up thick.
Step 6: Using cooking spray, grease a sheet of aluminium foil. Tent the pan with it, sprayed-side down. Place in the oven and bake for about 50 minutes at 350 degrees F. Remove the cover and bake for another 10 minutes.
Step 7: Remove from the oven when done and allow the lasagna to stand for about 10 minutes.
Step 8: Slice and serve. Enjoy!
